FCCS Updates (June): One-Click Financial Reports, Fixed Defects & More

Next week, Oracle will update Financial Close and Consolidation Cloud Service (FCCS). In this blog post, we’ll outline changes, new functionality, and fixed defects for June.

Every time a cloud update comes up for FCCS, or any other Oracle EPM cloud products, we’ll update it here on the US-Analytics Oracle EPM & BI Blog.

The monthly update for Oracle FCCS will occur on Friday, June 16 during your normal daily maintenance window.

White Paper: Modernize Your Financial Close Process

Oracle NetSuite Integration with Oracle EPM Cloud

Data Management is now available as the integration mechanism for Oracle EPM Cloud customers looking to load data from Oracle NetSuite. Oracle EPM Cloud customers now have direct access to Netsuite’s unified suite of cloud-based ERP, CRM, and commerce applications. The integration uses the NetSuite Saved Search framework to query data from the NetSuite system, which includes pre-packaged or customer defined Saved Searches.

NetSuite customers interested in leveraging this integration should contact NetSuite Support for more information on how to configure the required patch bundle in the NetSuite environment.

New EPM Automate Utility Version

A new version of the EPM Automate Utility is once again available. With this update, you’ll get an improved importsnapshotcommand, which now provides the resetPassword option. This option determines if the Identity Domain users’ (created while importing snapshots into an instance) default password must be changed after signing in for the first time.

Support Added for Google Chrome

Interoperability with Google Chrome and Oracle Smart View for Office 11.1.2.5.700+ is now available! From your service, you may now select Open In Smart View to access the same data in Microsoft Office. Conversely, you may launch Chrome from Smart View to access service instances when performing drill-through operations.

Activity Report Now Shows Database Query Performance Data

An enhanced Activity Report, which provides visibility into database query performance by providing the following information, is available with this update:

  • Worst performing database queries over 15 seconds, which lists top 10 queries that took more than 15 seconds to finish.
  • Top 10 database queries by duration, which lists top 10 queries that took the most time to execute.
  • Top 10 database queries by execution, which lists the top 10 queries that users executed.

Launch a Financial Report with One Click

Administrators can now streamline a workflow so that users can launch a financial report with one click. For example, if cash flow is relevant to a certain group, an administrator can make the Cash Flows report an icon on their Home page. Then those users can, with one click on their Home page, directly view the Cash Flows report.

To create access to a financial report directly from the Home page (or from a horizontal or vertical tab), an administrator creates a navigation flow and attaches a card to the flow. The service administrator also selects an icon for the report and assigns a financial report to the flow and then activates the navigation flow.

The new card is displayed on the Home page of users who have access to the navigation flow. Users click or tap the icon to view the report, which launches directly; the POV displays the most recently used members (or the root dimension if there are no most recently used members). Depending on the formats that the original report support, users can view the report in PDF, HTML, or Excel format.

Currency Translation Adjustment on Income Statement

You can now determine by application whether the Currency Translation Adjustment will be posted to the Balance Sheet, the Statement of Comprehensive Income, or a user-defined account.

Configurable Translation Override Rules

You can define translation rules to override the default translation methods. The translation rule allows you to specify a different translation method and rate account from the default translation settings for a specific POV.

Ability to Change the Number Format for Chart Point Values and Axis Labels

In Financial Reporting Web Studio, you can now customize the number formatting in the Axes tab and in the Bar Options, Line Options, or Pie Options tabs, depending on which chart type is selected.

Upload Custom Fonts to Financial Reporting

You can now upload custom fonts to the Financial Reporting. When you upload a custom font, the following restrictions apply: only TrueType fonts (.ttf) are supported, you can only upload one font at a time, the font's embeddability property must be set to "installable." When uploading custom fonts, you are responsible for meeting the Terms of Service for the fonts, and you should license them accordingly. Oracle does not guarantee that an uploaded font will work, and Oracle is not liable if a font is misused.

Improved Content Upgrade Screens

The screens displayed when updating the application content for business processes have been improved to provide more status.

Change of Behaviors: File Uploads

To enhance security, Oracle now prevents you from uploading executable files (for example, files with extensions such as .EXE, .BAT, and .sh) to the service. Starting with the 17.06 update, you cannot upload executable files that may contain data, metadata, and so on, to the application.

File-based Integration of Data Management with Oracle Fusions Financials Cloud

Oracle Fusion Financial Cloud Budgetary Control and Encumbrance Accounting is now fully integrated with Data Management.

This enhancement brings the integration of Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud with Oracle EPM Cloud on par with the current, out-of-the-box, file-based integration. As a result, the file-based integration will be phased out starting the September update to the service.

If you are using file-based integration between Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud and Oracle EPM Cloud, Oracle recommends that you adopt this new integration as soon as possible.

Considerations

Working with Metadata

Be aware of the following considerations:

  • You should not make metadata changes that result in the following:
    • Changing a base member to which a journal has been posted into a parent member
    • Deleting a member
If there are journals or Supplemental Data posted to those members, these changes can cause problems when accessing Journals or importing existing journals.
  • When you use ad hoc grids in Smart View with Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud, do not add a root “Period” member on the grid. Make sure the root “Period” member is removed by either clicking “Remove Only” or selecting periods that are in the application and selecting “Keep Only”. If a Period member is left on the grid, then any changes to data that you make will fail to properly set the impact status of the Entities.

Users are Unable to Access Folders and Reports

Because of some security changes made to Financial Reporting objects introduced in the 17.04 update, users who are granted the User predefined role in the service are no longer able to access Financial Reporting folders and reports.

Workaround: Sign in as a Service Administrator and assign the WORLD group to each affected report and folder. You assign the group by editing the current permissions of the report or folder.
