ODTUG Kscope19: All About Analytics

Written by Michelle Heath | June 12, 2019

This year at Kscope19, US-Analytics is diving deep into Analytics. As the Analytics track sponsor for the conference this year, we have a lot of events we’re excited about sharing with you.

Everyone is looking forward to Oracle’s announcement about the Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC), but there are many other Analytics events that you won’t want to miss. We’ll give you the lowdown in this blog post so that you can add a few more valuable activities to your Kscope19 schedule.

To keep things simple, we’ll go through these events in order of appearance.

Sunday, June 23

US-Analytics’ Seafood in Seattle Party

When: 7:30 – 9:30 PM
Where: Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse

Our Sunday evening party (after the Welcome Reception) isn’t an exclusively “Analytics” event, but you’ll be able to network about Analytics, EPM, and any other Kscope-related topic.

We’ll be kicking off Kscope with some seafood and drinks right down the street from the convention center at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. We’ll also have a photo booth, music, and a giveaway for a $100 AMEX gift card.

You can RVSP here!

Tuesday, June 25

Session: How to Unify OBIEE/OAC and Tableau with Becky Wagner

When: 11:45 AM – 12:45 PM

Where: 613/614, Level 6

In our first Kscope19 blog post, we mentioned Becky Wagner’s first session of the conference — Active Directory Integration and Single Sign-On for Oracle Analytics Cloud — which you should definitely check out, especially if you’re interested in getting started with OAC.

This Oracle ACE Associate has a busy conference (we’ll get to more of her sessions/events further down), including this vendor session about connecting OBIEE or OAC to Tableau (as well as Power BI) with a product called UnifyBI.

She’ll cover how you can get more out of your Oracle BI (OBIEE or OAC) investment by connecting with a self-service BI solution (Tableau or Power BI); present a UnifyBI success story; and show you a demo of how UnifyBI works.

Lunch and Learn: Business Intelligence, Data Visualization, and Analytics

When: 1 – 2 PM

Where: 602/603, Level 6

If you want to know more about an Oracle topic, is there anyone better to answer your questions than a member of the Oracle ACE program? During this lunch and learn, you’ll have an hour to ask these experts anything about BI, data visualization, and analytics.

There will be five ACEs at this lunch and learn, including our senior BI architect, Becky Wagner. You can view the other panelists on the Kscope19 lunch and learn page, and you can learn more about the Oracle ACE program here.

Wednesday, June 26

Women in Technology Luncheon

When: 12:45 – 2 PM

Where: Room 2AB, Level

The Women in Technology Luncheon is always a hit at Kscope. This event fills up quickly and is open to both men and women at Kscope. It focuses on having meaningful conversations about workplace challenges and solutions, and (the best part) is that the topics are chosen by the attendees. This year the topics up for discussion, include…

  • Leveraging Intersectionality in the Workplace
  • Developing Political Savvy: Is Hard Work and Talent Enough?
  • Using Technology to Create Work-life Integration
  • Lifting Up the Next Generation
  • Building Your Own Board of Directors

Becky will also be there helping to lead these discussions, so if there’s a question you’d like to ask her that you didn’t get to during the lunch and learn, you’ll have a chance. You can also stop by US-Analytics’ booth, 509, to speak with her one-on-one.

You can learn more about the Women in Technology Luncheon here.

Thursday, June 27

Thursday Deep Dives – Analytics, “Visualization Showcase”

When: 9:30 – 11 AM

Where: Room 612, Level 6

This will be one of your last opportunities to learn about analytics from the best and brightest at Kscope19. This “deep dive” will focus on data visualizations created by analytics leaders, including an explanation of how they built the visualizations and tips for making better graphics.

You can learn more about the Thursday Deep Dives here.
