PBCS Tutorial: Managing Access Control Groups Using a Bulk Process

I recently came across an issue that could be potentially very time-consuming for PBCS/EPBCS users. What if you updated 500 Access Control Groups, but it's not what you wanted? How can you make them go away (in bulk)?

In this quick tutorial, I'll give you step-by-step instructions on deleting access control groups in bulk.

Video Tutorial: Using the Simplified Interface in PBCS

As seen below, the Access Control Screen only allows you to delete the groups one at a time:

Step 1: Export the Access Control Groups (the export button can be seen in both screen shots).

Step 2: You can edit that file to be what you want to re-import or create a new import file.

Step 3: Go to the Migration tool and Export the Groups.

Select Groups and Memberships and click on the Export Button. This will bring up the inset window.

Open up Native Directory, select Groups and click Export.

Step 4: Go to Tools and Change the default for the Import of Groups to be a Delete.

Then click Save and Close.

Step 5: Click on the Actions button to the right of the Export you did in previous Step — look up and my group export is in previous image – select Import.

It will run  - Access Control Groups will all be removed.

Step 6:  Return to the toolbox and reset from Delete to Create and Update (the default).
Note: Do NOT skip this step.

Step 7: Re-import the groups you want or need.

This will be huge time saver and great alternative to deleting one-by-one.
