Oracle Data Integration Cloud Platform: Everything You Need to Know

Oracle has a new data integration solution in the cloud — combining features from all your favorite on-prem data governance and data integration tools.

Oracle’s Data Integration Cloud Platform (DIPC) seeks to bring together everything you need from a data integration, data governance, and data quality solution in one platform. With this one tool, you’re able to connect to hundreds of data sources — on-prem and in the cloud.

In this blog post, we’ll cover the features included in DIPC as well as uses cases, benefits, and security.

eBook: How to Get Ahead with Oracle Data Integration Tools

What features are included in DIPC?

DIPC unifies your data integration efforts in one platform. It comes with pre-built integration, allowing immediate data replication, transformation, and data governance while ensuring data quality.

This platform provides you not only with simplified provisioning and ease of use, but also varied integration capabilities. DIPC can integrate with Oracle or third-party cloud, on-prem, and hybrid solutions. It’s also a great solution to service data requirements for analytics and data lakes.

Oracle has sought to make enhancements in the cloud platform with improved data warehousing and workload offloading. Heavy data workloads can be offloaded onto the cloud using ETL methodology.

Additional features include:

  • Zero downtime while migrating data to the cloud
  • High-performance data transformations
  • Collaborative data governance to easily identify data issues

Benefits of using DICP

DICP will improve the quality of your data through its real-time integration and synchronization features. You can load any type of data in any format to transform it on the platform. Gone are the days of losing data to disparate sources — you’re data is handled with care and can be easily streamed into other big data technologies, like OBIEE or Oracle Big Data Cloud.

Who should use DIPC?

There are various editions of DIPC with various use cases, these include:

  • The Standard Edition
    • This edition includes data warehouses, data integration, and migrations. This allows you to move data in bulk, perform ELT transformation, pushdown data processing, and basic profiling of your data sources.
  • The Enterprise Edition
    • This edition includes Big Data integration, data synchronization, zero downtime migration, real-time data warehouses, and active data sources. With the Enterprise Edition you get access to all the Oracle Big Data technologies.
  • The Governance Edition
    • This edition includes creating glossaries, data profiling and validation, match and merge, data lineage, and metadata management. This edition allows you to easily cleanse and govern you data sources using customized dashboard. You can also perform data health checks and data lineage.

How secure is my data in DIPC?

Oracle has standards for keeping you data secure. You will have a private key used to access your data. Your data is also secure when transferring or loading data from an on-prem, cloud, or other data source. To add another level of security, you can use Oracle GoldenGate, which uses encrypted trail files to send data.
