FDMEE Patch Number 20648390 (also known as PSU 11.1.2.4.100) lists 42 defects fixed in this patch based on the included Readme as well as new features. Before I provide my first impressions, a brief installation of the patch is needed. Warning: I am an application consultant. However, I do create and install the various EPM products on virtual machines for personal testing and development.
Proceed to Oracle Support and download Patch Number 20648390. A prerequisite of this patch is 21240419; therefore, I would download this patch at this time also.
Prior to starting patching, create a backup of the EPM system to which you are applying the patches. Then, to apply the patches on the Windows operating system, stop the FDMEE service and copy the file downloaded from patch number 21240419 to MW_HOME\oracle_common\OPatch, which based on a default install is install drive then Oracle\Middleware e.g. D:\Oracle\Middleware when installed to the D drive.
After the file is copied, unzip the file to folder p21240419_111171_Generic.
Start a command prompt and then update the path to D:\Oracle\Middleware\oracle_common\OPatch.
At the command prompt, key “opatch.bat apply D:\Oracle\Middleware\p21240419_111171_Generic\21240419\oui -oh D:\Oracle\Middleware\oracle_common -jre D:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_35” and then hit enter. When prompted to, select key “y”.
After a couple of minutes, the patch should complete successfully, which is indicated by “OPatch succeeded” prior to the command prompt returning. Also note a prior patch “20326778” was rolled back.
Next, copy the file downloaded from patch number 20648390 to EPM_ORACLE_HOME\OPatch, which based on a default install is install drive then Oracle\Middleware\epmsystem11R1\opatch e.g. D:\Oracle\Middleware\epmsystem11R1\opatch when installed to the D drive.
After the file is copied, unzip the file to folder p20648390_111240_Generic.
Start a command prompt and then update the path to D:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\OPatch.
At the command prompt, key “opatch.bat apply D:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\OPatch\p20648390_111240_Generic\20648390 -oh D:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1 -jre D:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_35” and then hit enter. When prompted to, select key “y”.
After a couple of minutes, the patch should complete successfully, which is indicated by “OPatch succeeded” prior to the command prompt returning.
Start the FDMEE service and then proceed to Workspace. Log into Workspace and select Help –> About Oracle…
Select Show Details.
Verify the FDMEE version is 11.1.2.4.100 by scrolling through the list and finding the appropriate entry. Once the version is verified, select OK.
With PSU 11.1.2.4.100 installed successfully, my next blog will focus on one of the bug fixes included in this patch, which is “Import from EPM source (Essbase) fails,” and in later blogs I will review two new features: Universal Data Adapter and Map Monitor Reports.
